Why doom-focused researchers cared about shared commitments
Many AI-doom arguments are not primarily about malicious actors. Instead, they focus on situations where organisations continue developing increasingly powerful systems despite recognising serious uncertainties.

From an AI-doom perspective, normalising those assumptions is not trivial. Earlier debates often centred on whether frontier AI posed unusual risks at all. For people concerned about AI doom, that tension is the main lesson. The Seoul process suggests that shared safety rules can influence expectations and establish common language around severe risks.
